Collection: Brass and Copper homewares
This collection is created by skilled , rural craftsmen from Punjab, India, who specialize in the traditional technique of making hand crafted brass, copper and bell metal utensils by hammering metal sheets. This unique craft is the first craft of India to be inscribed in the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2014. As time passed, due to the onset of changing culture and modernized tastes, the craftsmen lost their stature. We have teamed up with a social enterprise based in Punjab, India to try and revive this craft.
Our collection of brass and copper homewares is 100% pure . A lot of brass products available in the market are brass plated hardware, which typically has a core made of steel or zinc with a thin layer of brass electroplated to it. There are various tests to find out the purity of each of these metals , which we would cover in a blog post soon.
The designs in this collection are made by skillfully hammering a series of tiny dents into heated brass metal. The craftsmen spend days making each product with perfection. Here, we have modernized the brass products such that they suit the contemporary taste. Presenting to you a wide range of home decor and utility handmade brass products.
